It's been quite a while since I wrote something in this forum, but when I was thinking about how I want my basic game to work, I came up with the idea... anyway I can't use it in my game as I'm not making mmorpg's so here ya go.

When a mob is spawned, there will first be a random number generated from 0.8-1.2. This will be the xyz scaling of the mob. This scale can then be multiplied with things like exp, drop rate, hp, defense, damage etc. In this way you would create at least a little difference between the same mob. You could have a very small chance of a double- or triple-scale mob spawning, ofc with very high stats but with a chance of dropping rare items/equipment/skills. This would encourage players to hunt for these rare mobs.

Any good feedback with reasons why or why not it could work is appriciated.
